FAQs

Job Applicant FAQs

  • Where is Virgin Mobile located?

Our Head Office Reception is on level 8, 213 Miller Street, North Sydney.

  • What should I wear to the interview?

There isn't really a dress code here. We are pretty casual so we would suggest you wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. If this means a suit, then fine, but if this means jeans or that old lucky hat you wear when you play poker on Fridays, that's fine too.

  • How Do I Apply?

You’ll be asked to enter your contact details and resume. For each application, there will be a few questions to answer as well, that relate to the position you are applying for.

When your application has been successfully submitted, you’ll receive an acknowledgement email from us.  If you do not receive this acknowledgement, you have not submitted your application and it may be incomplete.  You can log back into your profile to view and complete your draft applications at any time until the closing date.

  • What are Job Alerts?

You can create a job alert and we will send you an e-mail when a position becomes available that matches your search criteria.

  • Do you Accept Expressions of Interest?

We definitely do love to get these. Please follow the expression of interest application process which is listed in the job search.

Our Interviews

So, you're wondering what to expect if you get an interview with us?

We'll only ever get a few hours to get to know you, so we will use every trick at your disposal to find out what you're capable of.

  • Behavioural Interviews

Questions to find out about your actual experience, and how you may behave in the future. For example, "Tell me about a time when you gave great customer service?".

  • Biographical Interviews

Talking through your CV, beginning with your first role and ending with your most recent one. This is a particularly useful way of clarifying your work history, key achievements, and why you have made particular career choices.

  • Biographical Interviews

Talking through your CV, beginning with your first role and ending with your most recent one. This is a particularly useful way of clarifying your work history, key achievements, and why you have made particular career choices.

A combined biographical and behavioural interview will give us an all round picture of your skills and experience in one sitting.

  • Personality Profiling

This is a good way for us to find out what makes you tick and whether you fit into our culture.

  • Psychometric Tests

Great if we need to measure your aptitude and skill in particular areas - for example your ability to work with numerical information and your capacity to learn.

  • Role Plays

We create a work related scenario and see how you handle it - do you demonstrate the judgment and behavior that we are looking for? How do you get on with other people?

  • Case Studies

We give you an example of a real life work problem - to see how you handle situations.

  • Presentations

If we want to measure your ability to influence events and proceedings, we might ask you to make a presentation on a specific topic and then decide: Did you engage us? Did you hold our interest? Did you show a level of creativity in your presentation? Were you confident and articulate?

  • Group Discussions

For roles with a strong element of teamwork, these are useful in assessing did you work together with others to solve a problem.

  • Assessment Centres

These are great if we are recruiting a lot of people for similar roles. Usually they last half a day and consist of a number of the methods already explained. At the end we will have a pretty good picture of you and whether you're a good fit to represent the Virgin brand.

  • Interview Tips

    • We are a simple bunch here, so we love it when you keep your answers concise and clear.
    • You are also interviewing us - we like it if you have lots of questions or challenge our thinking.
    • Consider the 5 questions you are most likely to get asked and how you might answer them.
    • Relax. We're quite nice really, we don't want to trick you and we always want people to shine and do well at an interview.
    • Leave plenty of time to get here - we're about 15 mins walk from North Sydney train station.
    • Write down the name of your agency or contact at Virgin in case you need it.
    • Remember who to ask for when you get to reception.
    • Avoid too much garlic for breakfast and stay away from fizzy drinks that may lead to excess gas 'popping up' to say hello. We love nature, but not that much.
